Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) certified
Beginners Drivers Education (Online)
To apply for a driver's license in Ontario, you must meet the following requirements:
Age : You must be at least 16 years old.
Eye Test : You need to pass an eye test to demonstrate adequate vision.
- Knowledge Test : You must pass a knowledge test that assesses your understanding of the rules of the road and traffic signs. Once you successfully pass these tests, you will be issued a G1 license.
This license indicates that you are a beginner driver and need to practice driving and gain experience over time. Typically, there is a waiting period of one year after obtaining a G1 license before you can take the G2 road test.
However, if you enroll in a MTO-certified BDE (Beginner Driver Education) program, you can reduce the waiting time to 8 months instead of 12 months. The BDE program consists of a combination of online or in-person 30-hour classroom instruction and 10 hours of in-car road lessons. Upon completion of the BDE program, you will receive a BDE certificate, which makes you eligible for the reduced waiting time.
By completing the BDE program, you can obtain your G2 license after 8 months of holding a G1 license instead of waiting for the full 12 months. This can help you expedite the process of obtaining your full driver's license.
